What’s it like to be viral on the internet
RO Hmm! Cand am inceput sa scriu pe blog, speram dar intr-un fel nu, sa fiu viral! Aveam deja o audienta “in balanta”, mereu acceasi oameni! Insa a deveni viral, e cu totul altceva!
Cum a inceput?
Dupa cum observati, cam tot blogul meu este in limba engleza iar audienta mea din Romania e minima! Ei bine, nu si acum! De acum voi scrie totul in doua versiuni, romana si engleza! Asadar, cum a inceput tot acest “taraboi”? O seara, plicisitoare, ca toate celelalte! Am zis, hm, ce ar fi sa scriu si eu un articol in limba romana caci nu o prea fac si as avea un subiect pe cinste! Zis si facut, totul a fost scris, pozele pentru postare gasite, apas “Publish” si aia e! :).
Ce a urmat?
Am observat, cu stupoare, ca postarea a fost distribuita si de un alt blog! Eram in culmea fericirii sa vad ca postarea unui blog, a carui statistici mereu erau “United Kingdom” sau “United States” avea acum si “Romania”, postarea la acel moment avea aproximativ 300 de vizualizari!
A continuat in felul urmator.
Prima distribuire se intamplase in noaptea precedenta. Urmatoarea zi a continuat cu un ziar englezesc, dar totusi romanesc (Are oare sens?).
Atunci a inceput NEBUNIA! Postarea a fost distribuita in jurul orei 17! Judecand dupa statisticile blogului meu, presupun ca ziarul respectiv a avut de 3 ori mai mult (era optional sa se treaca si pe la blogul meu). Deci, Daca la mine au fost 2,000 de click-uri (unice), acel ziar sigur a avut mai mult de 5,000!
Comentarii peste comentarii! Pe Facebook. Pe Blog. Pana si profilul personal mi-a fost gasit de anumiti oameni. Altii transmiteau ura, altii imi spuneau ca am dreptate, altii doar au apreciat! Nu avea rost sa ma cert cu ei in comentarii, zic. Doar ei se certau intre ei.
Pana si in acest moment postarea blogului este inca distribuita pe mai multe site-uri!
Pentru cei ce isi doresc sa fie virali pe internet, pregatiti-va mintal! E efectiv o nebunie curata ca statisticile blogului tau sa ajunga la ordinul zecilor de mii cand erai obisnuit doar cu sute, sau cu o mie doar, din cand in cand.
De altfel, pregatiti-va si la feedback-uri pozitive dar mai ales negative! Chiar daca nu meriti, oamenii sunt chiar rai si vor face orice sa te “Traga in jos”. 🙂
Deci, e “sa fii viral” pe meritate? Desigur! Dar, sa fi sigur ca nu iei totul la suflet. Oamenii vor spune lucruri urate despre tine! Si daca te simti prost, gandestete ca eu am primit si amenintari cu moartea de la ciudati si anonimi ce au lasat comentarii si mesaje cu numele de “dskgs” sau “c”, deci da, haters gonna hate!
Total vizualizari de pe toate site-urile? Aproximativ 100,000 vizitatori unici per total.
EN Hmmm! When I started writing on this blog, I was kinda hoping or kinda not to go viral! I already had a steady audience, always the same people, but, going viral is something else!
How it started?
As you see, a huge part of my blog is in english and my Romanian audience is not that much. Oh well, considering what happened during this week, all of my blog posts will be in 2 versions, Romanian and English! Anyway, how this “going viral” thingy started. It was just another boring evening, just like the others. I was like “How about writing something in Romanian, I don’t really do it and I really have a nice subject people would read”. Said and already had done it! Everything was written down, photos were chosen, I press “Publish” and that’s it! :).
What happened next?
I was very surprised to see that blog post was reposted by other blog. I was very happy to see because most of my blog statistics were “US”, “UK” always and now I had “Romania” there too, with around 300 visitors.
And it continued…
First share has been done by that blog a few hours after posting my article, so in that night. Next day, a newspaper, an english newspaper site, but for Romanians only has shared it too!
Ok so that’s when things got way more insane.I mean, it happened around 5Pm and by midnight I had over 2,000 unique visitors. And I imagine that the newspaper’s site had around 5,000 because coming to my blog was OPTIONAL!
Comments over comments. Facebook. Blog. Even my private Facebook profile has been found by some people. Some were spreading hate, some were spreading love, some said I was right, some not! All kinds of people! There was literally no point to argue with them! They were arguing one with eachother in the comments section so yeah!
Even in this moment my blog post is still shared by different sites!
So, is being viral worth it? Definitely. But make sure you don’t take it to the soul everything people say about you. And if you do, think about the fact I had like 3 death threats from some people named “dskgs” or “c”, so yeah, haters gonna hate!
Total views from all the sites? Around 100,000 total unique visitors.
Ps. To all the people that said I am crazy. I am. I went shark hunting in snow. today. What? Snow is water and sharks snow in water lol.
Ps. Pentru toti oamenii ce au zis ca sunt nebun. Sunt. Am fost la vanatoare de rechini in zapada azi. Ce? Zapada e apa si rechinii inoata in apa.
