It is becoming more acceptable and even desirable for men to take good care of their skin. Luckily, we live in the 21st century and there are many products available now in order to help them. We should give special attention to our skin when the seasons change as we should prepare for different weather conditions and temperatures. Here’s a quick guide on how to take good care of your skin as we move into the new season.

Lather up

Most men are used to using a bar soap which is fine if your skin is oily, but they usually tend to dry your skin out, so switching to a liquid cleanser might be more appropriate. The best place to start is a fragrance-free gel face wash for all skin types. Look for something that will remove extra oil produced by your overactive male sebaceous glands, but will also leave your skin clean and tender.

Scrub

Men’s skin produces more oil and men tend to sweat much more than women, which can lead to clogged pores, and even acne. In order to prevent this, especially after hot summer days, you should use a scrub. Facial scrubs can be used to clear blackheads and clogged facial pores around three times a week, and a whole body scrub can be done at least once a week to remove dead skin cells and allow your skin to breathe.

Moisturize

Soaps, cleansers and body washes will probably leave your skin dry and the problem is even bigger after the summer when your skin is overly exposed to the sun and needs much more hydration than usual. That’s why you should get a good moisturizing cream or milk, preferably containing natural oils like jojoba, almond or olive oil, and apply it after washing. You should use both facial and body moisturizers. If that’s too much for you, at least get a moisturizing body wash.

Protect against the sun

This comes naturally to people with fair skin, but everyone should use a good sunscreen with a high SPF factor in order to prevent any damage by the sun’s UV rays. Apply sunscreen even if there is no direct exposure to the sun or on cloudy days since UV rays do get through the clouds and reflect off of water. Always avoid direct sunlight, wear sunglasses and cover your skin with clothes.

Recover

Your skin will lose some of its natural shine and luster over the summer, but you can help it recover and be fresh and elastic again. There are products like vitamin C powders from Cosmedix Australia which is pure L-ascorbic acid that your skin can readily absorb and brighten, tighten and eliminate the signs of aging. You can also get some recovery creams and blushes to cover up any sun spots.

Don’t forget your eyes and lips

Your lips and your eyes are very delicate areas because the skin is thinner there and more prone to dryness. You should get a good moisturizing lip balm, preferably with a SPF factor. As for the eyes, in order to prevent the appearance of fine lines, you can use an eye cream with Q10 coenzyme or a good anti-aging eye cream with cucumber extract.

Remember that protecting your skin from damaging factors will go a long way and keep you looking younger and better for a longer time. Make a habit of taking good care of your skin, you can only benefit from it, and we are sure your ladies will appreciate it.
