5 Ways To Overcome Mental Blocks

Sometimes when you want to write something new, something unique, you get a spurt of inspiration followed by a mental block. Happens to me sometimes and end up staring at a blank page for a couple of hours before words start pouring in.

Here are 5 ways on how I get over them:

1.Write in nature

It’s a proven fact people are more relaxed so they are more productive as well when surrounded by nature. I usually stay in my own garden as I am living in countryside but you can go in the park near your house.

2.Read your favorite blogs

You have a unique voice which is probably not awake in that moment since you have a mental block.

Your voice develops while you read the blogs that inspire you. A mental block can mean a loss of connection between you and your voice. Remind yourself what your voice is. Read over your favorite blogs that inspire you and your voice may come back very fast and stronger than ever. Don’t forget, if you get an inspiration spurt write everything as fast as you can. You can edit later and make it have more sense.

3.Take a break and do something else you love

I find myself guilty of over working on what I love to do, like blogging.

Sometimes over working on something makes you sort of bored of it. Your brain needs rest too to be able to think and come up with creative ideas. Do something else you love. You love to walk? Go on. You love to play soccer, basketball? Go ahead. Do ANYTHING else that you love.

4.Ask for help

Sometimes we get so caught in our own ideas we kind of forget everything else. Ask others for opinions. Not only it is beneficial for your relationship with that person as you prove trust but you get to see their point of view which is always helpful.

Make sure you actually do trust that person though, so many people in this world would drag you down for their own benefit.

 

5.Write whatever crosses your mind

This is often called freewrite. Get your notebook or open a writing app and start writing your thoughts.

Appetite comes with eating.

Do you want to write? Start writing and let your ideas flow in. You may think you have no ideas when that’s actually your mental block. Start writing and let your ideas flow in.
