5 Important Tips to Get More Fans for Your Blog

Believe it or not, but there are still people who think (in 2017!) that simply starting a blog is their way to fame and fortune. For whatever reason, they believe that the world was just waiting for their blog and that they will be welcomed like the Second Coming. Once they discover that this is not the way the real world works, they cannot believe it.

Do not be one of those people.

Your blog is just a drop in the ocean, at least at first. You need to earn your fans. You need to make them come to you.

Read on if you want to learn how to do it.

Don’t Copy Others

In order to make your blog noticed, you will need content. This is such as basic tip that I decided not even to include it as one of my 5. What I have to include is a piece of advice on copying other bloggers.

Do not do it. Do not do it!

You may think that by copying and replicating what successful bloggers are doing, you are increasing your chances of success.

You are not.

The reason why they are successful is that they were first to think of something. If they tried to copy someone else, they wouldn’t be successful in the first place.

We are talking logic 101.

Go Social

Even the birds in the trees know that a social media presence is necessary if you want any kind of web renown. The thing that many bloggers don’t understand is that a social presence needs to be exactly that – presence.

It is not enough to fire up your Facebook and Twitter every time you publish a post. No, being on social media means interacting with other people, commenting on their posts, getting involved in conversations, joking around, getting into arguments.

Only when you have grown a social following can you start to use it to promote your blog. It is important never to beg, though. People should understand that they are happy to be provided a chance to read and share your content.

It’s never the other way around.

When fans find your content exclusive, it is only a matter of time before their friends come running.

Visual. Visual. Visual

Text is boring. People have grown tired of text. In 20 years, there is a good chance text will be all but a relic of past, at least on the web.

This is why you need to be among the people who are ushering the new age. The new age of visual.

Look to any blog that is successful and really pushing the boundaries. What are they doing? They are doing videos. They are doing big pictorials that you don’t find on every other blog out there. Do you know why Australian foody blogs are so successful? Because Australian food photography is on a whole other level.

Go visual. Forget about text. Visual brings the fans.

Get Educated

I am not talking actual, official education. I am not saying you need a doctorate to be a successful blogger.

I’m saying don’t be ignorant.

No matter what you blog about, there is stuff to learn about it. It may not seem that way at the moment, but there will come a day you will regret sounding like a 12-year old girl who never went outside and saw the world.

If you blog about fashion, learn a thing or two about the history of fashion and new designers. If you blog about health, get your facts straight.

Don’t be ignorant. Being ignorant went out of style sometime in the late 90s.

KISS

Keep it simple, stupid.

People don’t have hours to spend on your blog.

That’s all.
